Item Description
6x12.25x7.25" tall hinged insulated wooden box w/metal latch has 11" long tin litho "Good Humor Ice Cream" truck attached to lid. This insulated box was used by Good Humor salesmen to take sample product into factories and businesses to offer up for securing rights to sell to employees. c. 1950s. Front of box has Good Humor ice cream man graphic which is repeated on side panels. Much of interior foam insulation has degraded and shows heavy wear. Insert inside box lists "Good Humor" bars as well as "Good Humor Fruit-I-Stix" treats. Box shows scattered paint wear and exterior has all over crazing. Fine overall. Truck is 1952 Ford delivery truck made in Japan by Tatsuya. This was the largest toy truck granted use of the Good Humor trademark and truck features lithography listing flavors as well as showing ice cream bars w/large "Good Humor Ice Cream" graphic and text at top reading "Fresh Peach Ice Cream." Complete w/sliding tin litho cab roof and small opening rear door, which is often missing from this toy. Truck shows scattered wear in the form of small paint nicks/scratches, w/heavier wear to cab roof and trace oxidation to driver's side bell. Fine overall.
