Item Description
2.5x4" Carte de Visite features stunning Matthew Brady portrait photo image of Boston Corbett, the Union Army soldier who shot and killed Abraham Lincoln's assassin, John Wilkes Booth on April 26, 1865. Corbett is seen standing near a chair, wearing his Union blues. The insignia and adornments are still visible on his hat; the crossed swords of the cavalry at center w/the letter "L" above them. Printed text below reads "Sergt. Boston Corbett, 16th N.Y. Cavalry, Who Shot J.W. Booth." CDV bears Brady imprint on front/back. CDV has even moderate aging and small 1/8" tear at bottom right, but this blends somewhat. Corner tip foxing. Fine overall.
