Item Description
8-3/8" long by Barr Rubber Products Co. of New York City. "Tarzan" name stamped on one side of handle along w/"Trade Mark" text and company name. Issued as a promotional item for the 1934 Tarzan film "Tarzan And His Mate," this item was pictured along w/other items from this company (such as "Tarzan" hatchets, daggers, clown/rhino balloons and "Circus Balloons" boxed set) in pressbook issued to theaters to help promote the film. We are offering a color photocopy of pressbook page featuring this very rare promotional item. Rubber knife comes w/generic leather sheath of the period. Rubber has hardened w/age and has .5" tip off blade and has had stressline 1" away from hilt reinforced on both sides w/coating of glue (never fully broken). Area by hilt has some additional small stresslines and handle has some denting to surface, but knife remains structurally sound. VG overall. Very rare due to the fragility of this aged material. First we've seen in our 47 years.
