Pair of hardcover illustrated adaptations of the popular 1935 Silly Symphony "The Tortoise And The Hare." Both are ©1935. First is more commonly seen 8.75x9.75" edition published by Whitman. Book has 40 pages w/full page story art on nearly every other page in both bw and choice full color, w/six color plates throughout. Great full color cover art is repeated on front and back cover. Contents have lt. margin tanning but are exceptionally clean and Exc. Cover has rippling to spine surface paper and lt. edge/corner tip wear. VF w/Exc. contents. Second is much scarcer 9x10.25" edition published by David McKay Company. This is expanded version w/48 pages w/additional text and images (including nine color plates) not seen in the Whitman version. Two of the three additional McKay color plates are shown online. Covers have scattered dust soiling w/edge/corner/spine wear. Fine overall. Pages have some scattered lt. soiling and are VF overall. Comes w/9.5x12.25" Whitman No. 928 "Toby Tortoise And The Hare" linen-like book. Covers show wear w/color rubs and pinch creases along spine. VG/Fine.
