Item Description
5.5x7.25x7.25" tall nicely designed high quality radio made by Emerson, 1930s. This style radio came in two different colors, black and cream, this being the latter. Painted green accents on sides and front edge have been repainted at some point. Base (which was originally white) was also repainted. Attached triangular aluminum pieces on front at each corner, each w/different character image including Minnie Mouse, Pluto, Horace Horsecollar and Clarabelle Cow. At bottom center is triangular attachment that reads "Emerson Radio And Television" along w/Walt Disney copyright. These images and text are a bit lt. in spots. VG to Fine overall. Radio features nice die-cut aluminum grill plate depicting Mickey Mouse playing an upright bass and behind this is the fabric speaker cover. Aluminum serial number plate still attached to back of radio. We were not able to get radio to work as original cord is frayed w/cracks. Speaker cover has three splits. Rubber covering on the underside feet is missing. The two plastic knobs are original, each w/tiny interior hairlines. Body has moderate scattered paint wear and chipping along edges but radio remains structurally sound and still displays nicely. Appearance for display remains Fine. These radios are scarce and were quite expensive in their day for a child's radio. Scarce variety in this color.
