Item Description
Pair of boxed bubble sets by Transogram, 1930s. Both have King Features Syndicate copyrights. First is larger set No. 3135 in 8.25x9.25x1.25" deep cardboard box w/wonderfully illustrated lid showing Popeye w/pipe blowing bubbles, bubbles w/image of Popeye, Olive Oyl, Wimpy and Bluto on them. Set includes four generic wooden pipe bowls, two wooden stems, two embossed pans w/Popeye's face on them and three figural "Popeye" soaps, which have aged as is typical. Set appears unused and aside from slight oxidation to water pans and previously mentioned soap aging, contents are VF. Box has some scattered edge/corner tip wear and is Fine overall. Smaller set is No. 3131 in 5.25x7.25x1.25" deep cardboard box and contains similar contents, but w/only two pipe bowls, one stem, one water pan and one soap. Soap shows some use and is aged but rest is Exc. Box has scattered edge/corner tip wear and is Fine/VF.
