Item Description
This button is listed as Hake #39 on a 1908 Democratic delegate badge and is also known in a much smaller size as well as this 2-3/8" tall version with a tin covered back and fixed horizontal pin. Primary text reads "Our Standard Bearer: The Nation's Commoner/William Jennings Bryan/Two Of America's Great Essentials To Peace And Prosperity/Known The World Over." One corn husk also contains the text "'From Mr. Bryan's Fairview Farm.'" There is some light surface scratching in reflected light the worst of which are three side by side light hairlines with the longest running from the end of the word "Standard" down to the top of the center ear of corn. With normal viewing none of the surface wear is evident and the piece is perfectly centered with nice gloss and great color. Julie Powell Collection.
