Item Description
1.75" diameter celluloid encasing a cloth tape measure. One side has choice color rose also seen on several different Roosevelt 1904 rebus buttons. Opposite side reads "Do We Measure Up To Your Idea Of A Square Deal?" The item does not include the issuers name although tiny edge text identifies the maker as W&H. The celluloid holding the text side of the item has come free although it stays in place unless physically pulled off. There are very minor traces of some glue under its edge from an apparent repair although these are barely evident. Both sides display clean and glossy. The metal end on the cloth tape came free from the cloth but its direction has been reversed and it has been stitched back onto the cloth with a small piece of black thread. The spring mechanism used to retract the tape is still functioning. A rare and unusual Roosevelt related item. First we've seen.
