Auction #213 - Part I
Item numbers 1 through 1062 in auction 213
Item Description
6" pin and easel back button with LBJ showing his appendectomy scar which is in the shape of Vietnam. Levine did a series of political cartoons for publication in “New York Review” and that copyright information appears on the curl. Most recent date of the copyright is 1966 and the button has tiny designation “A-1.” This is one of the scarcest buttons in the series. We had it as 1.75" size but this is our 1st seen 6" version. Slight trace of tan tone all over and just slightly darker on outer edge. About 10 tiny indents in the cello covering which is actually pretty good as the coverings on this series were exceptionally thin and most have much more abrasion. No cello breaks around the reverse as so many in the series show. Overall VF. See RFK by Levine #485.
