Item Description
This item is missing a fabric ribbon once suspended from the bar on the back of the hanger. It read "Republican National Convention Chicago 1908" and is pictured as item "1908-1" in the ribbon book by Sullivan/Fischer. The item still displays as totally complete and features a large brass encased celluloid reading "Pennsylvania." Below this hangs a symbolic keystone inscribed with his last name "Knox." Tiny paint dot off the letter "X." Chain links suspend 2" fancy brass frame with twisted outer edge around a second brass frame enclosing a highly domed real photo portrait with his full name along the top edge and bottom edge reading "Copyright 1908-Clinedinst, Wash. D.C." The back of this suspension is concave and the surface is entirely covered with a tabbed in cardboard label reading in full "C.S. Cole & Co., Mfr Of Badges For All Occasions 3445 Indiana Avenue Chicago Ill." A quite impressive piece even with the ribbon missing. Among the eight men receiving Delegate votes Knox was a distant second to Taft.
