Item Description
11.5x17.5" sheet of stiff animation paper has original model sheet pencil art by noted comic book artist Carmine Infantino, who was given the task of reviving the faded "Batman" comic book title in the 1960s. Along w/writer John Broome, Infantino got rid of the sillier aspects that had crept into the series (such as Ace the Bathound, and Bat-Mite) and gave the title as well as Batman and Robin a more detective-oriented direction and sleeker look that proved a hit combination. This model sheet depicts nine different close-up views of Batman's head/face/cowl, showing various expressions as well as how shading was to be handling on Batman's iconic cowl. c. 1966. This very same art appears as a two-page spread (pgs. 66-67) of "Batman Collected" by Chip Kidd. Art has some scattered dust soiling and lt. handling wear. Lower corners have had 1x1" triangular pieces clipped and top margin has some tape remnants. .5" area of faint staining at upper left. Hole punched at each corner, not affecting art. Fine overall, but art still displays well. Superb and expressive examples by a true Silver Age legend.
