Item Description
Original cardboard shipping tube contains rolled 14-5/8x23" sheet of stiff art paper that has original pen and ink art for Oct. 26, 1969 Sunday page by Irving Phillips. "The Strange World Of Mr. Mum" was published from 1958 to 1974. This Halloween themed page features Mr. Mum going grocery shopping, picking up pumpkin and noticing woman shopping/buying broom. Much to Mr. Mum's surprise, once the woman pays for broom, she is revealed as a witch and flies off on it. Last panel shows him clutching "Joe's Witches' Delight Hob Goblet." Eight panels (9 counting title panel w/special Halloween depiction of Mr. Mum as pumpkin) has Mr. Mum in all panels. Last panel has been dated and signed by Phillips, who has also signed in blue pencil over lead pencil at left margin, "Great Good Wishes To You!!! From Irv Phillips And Mr. Mum!!" Side margins each have Phillips' stamped address and lower left has strip number. Fifth panel has Hall Synidcate copyright strip paste-over and title panel has large title paste-over which has some aging. Art has a few small spots of white correctional fluid but is VF overall.
