Item Description
Lot of three pieces of original art from early concept art for Disney's 1937 animated feature film on trimmed/clipped animation sheets. These three pieces date to c. 1935. Largest measures 10x12" and shows full body image of Grumpy, w/a pick over his shoulder and his large nose bandaged. Art is primarily lead pencil w/red pencil accents. Margins have some scattered moderate aging w/corner creasing. Fine overall, but art remains Exc. 6.5x8-1/8" sheet has red pencil box w/detailed lead pencil scene showing six of the Dwarfs hiding behind tree as seventh Dwarf (who is covered by pots and pans and broken drawer) frightens them. Pencil captions at bottom have dialogue for Sneezy and Happy. "Sc. 50" at top center in green pencil. Numerous pinholes at top corners and scattered pinholes at bottom indicate this as an early storyboard. Sheet has heavy but even aging and is VG overall w/VF/Exc. art. Last sheet measures 4.5x7" w/4.25x4.75" image area including caption. Art is in lead/red pencil and shows Grumpy talking w/upset Deafy. Blue pencil text reads "Deafy: 'This Is Awful!'; Grumpy: 'What's Awful?'; Deafy: 'I Dunno..But Ain't It?'" Upper right corner has letter "C" noting sequence. Top/bottom margins have numerous pinholes, image and text area is Exc. Well drawn and historic, including Dwarf who wasn't used in the final feature.
