Item Description
This large and scarce ring from the early 1950s was meant to be used with a battery which would cause Howdy's high relief plastic face to light. This piece consists of Howdy's face mounted on the correct brass ring base as it came from the "Brownie" manufacturing factory with an interior light bulb, and a wire that runs from it to a contact tab and the battery itself. Each side of the brass ring base has small image of Clarabell. The only age is a small corrosion mark on the inside surface of one band where it joins the brass band that holds the original battery. As the battery is about 60 years old the ring does not light but a great example with all the color accents intact on Howdy's head and face and brass base has full muted luster as made except for the one small spot not even seen from the top view.
