Item Description
Ferdinand Horvath was a story sketch artist at Disney from 1934 to 1937 who brought a European style to Disney's animated projects, working on many Disney shorts and doing preliminary work on "Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs." Offered here are two sheets of animation paper, 9x12" and 10x12". Smaller sheet has six full body concept drawings for the Three Little Pigs, w/additional head sketch. Each figure is 2.5" to 3.5" tall and depicts the Pigs in a variety of different clothing, some more comical that the characters' final designs, while some look very similar to finished designs. Sheet has small "258" number in pencil at top right and lower margin has "1938 VII" handwritten date/text. Lower margin has .5" strip of aging/dust soiling and Pig in sailor-like outfit has area of faint aging/staining around him. Fine overall w/VF-Exc. art. Larger sheet has three fully colored images measuring 2.75" to 3" tall and has additional cut-out attached, featuring two more of Horvath's original designs, for total of five images. Sheet also has small "257" number in pencil at top right and lower margin has "1938 VII" handwritten date/text. Sheet has .5" streak of aging where attached to another sheet for binder purposes, but art remains clean and Exc. Wonderful expressive images by a legendary animator, dated one year before the release of "The Practical Pig."
