Item Description
5.5" tall prototype for proposed Kenner action figure line that was initiated due to interest in the upcoming "Star Wars" prequel film "Star Wars - Episode 1: The Phantom Menace." c. 1997. Kenner looked at previous trends and hoped for a resurgence in popularity among space character toys and secured the rights to Flash Gordon and made prototype action figures to help sell the idea of the toy line. As the hoped-for resurgence did not occur, the line never saw production. Offered here is complete figure showing Flash Gordon's nemesis Ming in a stylized armored suit, almost giving the appearance of being a robot or giant Mech. Figure consists of six main pieces that are designed to be pegged together for display. Figure does not come w/pegs but could be easily assembled if so desired. Scattered aging but o/w Exc. From the Tomart Archives and comes with COA signed by Tom Tumbusch.
