Item Description
Beautifully painted and glazed 6.5x9.5x5.25" tall ceramic figurine w/mark on underside for this Italian company as well as "M.85" designation and hand-painted "Zaccagnini" name over the glaze. Zaccagnini signed a contract w/Disney in 1947 which lasted for about 10 years. This particular piece is c. 1947, from the time of the first re-release of Disney's 1942 animated film "Bambi." Bambi is depicted laying sprawled on the ground, his legs splayed out as if he has fallen. Thumper appears at his backside, Bambi's tail draped across his head. Bambi's front left hoof has .25" scuff to tip that has been re-touched w/black paint, only noticeable upon close inspection. Figurine has some scattered glaze craze lines as to be expected. Still remains bright and glossy and displays Exc. Wonderful detailing to these figures, recreating the scene where Thumper helps Bambi up after he falls on the ice, though Thumper is depicted in brown instead of his more commonly seen gray depiction. Rare and the first we've offered in our 47 years.
