Item Description
5x7.5" illustrated paper envelope has classic art from cover of "Batman" No. 9 comic book. Sealed envelope was issued w/two 4x7-3/8" decal transfer sheets. This is the earliest known Batman store item. ©1944 Detective Comics Inc. Transfers included "Batman" logo plus four Batman transfers, two Batman and Robin transfers, three Robin transfers, Bruce Wayne, Dick Grayson, The Joker, The Penguin, Linda, Alfred The Demon Detective as well as Batmobile and Batplane. As envelope is sealed, transfers are complete and unused. Envelope notes original 10¢ price and has ink stamped 1945 date at top. Envelope is sealed as issued w/slight lift at one corner of flap w/small tear. Envelope has some scattered aging and .25" tear at bottom right. Very faint moisture staining at lower left. Fine overall. Early and rare Batman item.
