Item Description
The "Batman And Robin" daily comic strip ran from Oct. 25, 1943 to Nov. 27, 1946. The strip is notable as the last large body of work that Batman co-creator Bob Kane penciled completely solo and contained stories by Don Cameron, Bill Finger, Jack Schiff and Alvin Schwartz. Offered here is an extensive lot of 282 different daily strips and includes the six "Introductory" strips, each featuring "Watch For The Thrilling Adventures Of Batman And Robin - Starting Soon!" promo text w/following day's strip title. Also included are the 12 "Story" strips, that have been mounted in chronological order on two sheets, which each bear "Renewed 1970 National Periodical Publications" copyright strips, possibly indicating these were for a 1970s reprint book, though we can find no evidence on one being published during that time. Lot is as follows - 1943 (20); 1944 (81); 1945 (181). The strip was distributed by the McClure Syndicate, only appearing in a small list of client newspapers, effectively making these strips a scarce collectible today. Great Golden Age content w/Batman and Robin, Alfred, the Batmobile and Batplane as well as as four strips featuring The Joker, which have been mounted to two separate sheets. Pages have varying degrees of even aging and strips attached to sheet have some staining from glue and are Fine overall. Rest are Fine-VF. An instant collection. From the collection of Chip Kidd, renowned author, graphic designer and pop culture enthusiast extraordinaire.
