Item Description
6.75" dia. by 3.25" tall painted and glazed heavy pottery mixing bowl, made by Pfaltzgraff Pottery of York, PA, America's oldest continuous pottery maker, founded in 1811. Underside of bowl is unglazed and bears incised Pfaltzgraff's keystone mark w/"York" name stamped in as well as the number "6" and "Made In USA" text. Bowl's rim has textured white and orange accent lines and one side of bowl has matching texture/color design of the Trylon and Perisphere buildings w/"New York World's Fair - 1939" text/date. Bowl has some lt. wear from use w/two small flakes to base of Trylon and Perisphere image. VF. Pfaltzgraff was producing Art Deco style wares during this time period and this is the first example we've seen of any 1939 World's Fair Pfaltzgraff Pottery.
