Item Description
Set of six 10.5" dia. plates, each marked on underside w/corresponding building name and "New York World's Fair 1939 - Abraham & Straus Inc. Brooklyn, N.Y. - 1st Edition" w/stylized "A&S" mark. Below that is "Copeland Spode England" hallmark. Illustrations on the front all bear Rolph Scarlett artist name at lower edge. Rim of each plate shows the Trylon and Perisphere at top. Four additional vignettes appear around border of each, w/related theme to the building represented at center. Buildings include - Marine Transportation Building, Food Building, Hall of Production, Hall of Communications, Textile Building and Shelter Building. All are glossy and Exc. A quality set made exclusively for and sold by this famous Brooklyn department store.
