Item Description
16" long w/23" wide wingspan pressed steel prototype Northrop Delta airplane. The Northrop Delta was an American single-engined passenger transport aircraft of the 1930s. Closely related to Northrop's Gamma mail plane, 13 were produced by the Northrop Corporation, followed by 19 aircraft built under license by Canadian Vickers Limited. Unmarked but 1930s. Body, tailfins and propeller housing are painted while wings remain unpainted. Wheel under tail and complete w/original painted metal propeller. Tailfins have "NC-519Y" number and painted "Northrop Delta" name along w/painted rivet detailing. Propeller has original Marx "Sample" cloth tag attached and is marked "Northrop" in faint black ink. Tag also notes prototype was produced at the Glendale, WV. plant. Scattered moderate paint wear to body and propeller hub as well as edges of tailfins. Wings have scattered oxidation. VG/Fine overall. This particular prototype never saw production.
