Item Description
28.5x20.25" wide. Advertising "A Meeting Of The Republicans Of The Township of Concord, And Parts Adjacent, Will Be Held At Elam Saturday Evening August 22, 1868." Main graphic features an eagle, wings spread, holding a ribbon in its beak reading "Grant Colfax". Text at lower margin reads "Aug. 13, 1868 Printed At The Village Record Office, West Chester, Pa.". Piece has restoration done many years ago. One each vertical and horizontal folds. Minor loss of paper at 12 o'clock not quite 2" by 1" at widest point. Tape marks at 3, 6 and 9 o'clock. All over small ripples in the paper and light tanning. Linen mounted probably 75-100 years ago. Despite these issues still displays very well. Fine/VF. Rare and first we've seen.
