Item Description
Original hinged lid cardboard box is complete w/original cardboard insert and contains 2.25x4.25x2" bank tall designed like a chest w/embossed oilcloth fabric over brass. Zell Products Co. 1930s. This bank came in both standard and 1933-34 Chicago World's Fair versions as well as a number of color varieties. This is cream color variety w/gold luster side panels. Bank features brick pattern w/full figure images of Mickey and Minnie Mouse on top w/"Mickey Mouse Bank - Be Thrifty - Save Your Coins" text. Front side has bank entrance w/portraits of Mickey and Minnie at windows w/additional "Deposit Your Coins In The Mickey Mouse Bank" text. Missing generic key. Top has some hairline impressions to oilcloth, but this appears to be a production flaw as rest of bank appears unused. Bright and glossy w/full paint on images and full luster on metal parts. VF/Exc. Box features different Mickey and Minnie images w/main lid illustration showing Minnie and Pluto walking up stairs to bank w/Mickey leaning out window. Lid has some lt. aging and edge/corner tip wear. Insert has three .25" tears at corners. Fine overall. Box is very rare. From the Doug & Pat Wengel Collection.
