Item Description
5.75" tall (10" tall to top of upright handle) tin litho sand pail. ©1924 King Features Syndicate. Pail features scene w/Barney Google in bathing suit being stopped by policeman from jumping in the "No Swimin'" hole as Spark Plug and friends look on. Handle is angled, having flat top. Moderate wear/aging overall. Scattered nicks/scratches. Exterior has some darkening to image areas. Underside has oxidation. VG. One of the earliest character sand pails. Rare and the only the second example we've offered in our 48 years. From the Doug & Pat Wengel Collection and this is the actual example shown in their book "Comic Character Metal Sand Toys."
