Item Description
7-3/8x11.25x1-1/8" thick textured paper-covered cardboard salesman's case w/snap closures contains complete amount of 12 glass sample vials, each 6-3/8" long w/metal end caps. c. late 1940s to the early 1950s. Vials are held in place w/metal clips and case was taken by Gulf salesman to gas/service stations to promote Gulf's line of oil and lubricants. Included are vials labeled - "Gulflub Motor Oil 2, Gulf Hypoid Gear Lubricant, Gulf Transgear Lubricant 140, Gulflub Paraffine Based Motor Oil 30, Gulf Transgear Lubricant 160, Gulflub Paraffine Based Motor Oil 40, Gulf Transmission Oil 250, Gulf Transmission Oil 140, Gulf Supreme Motor Oil 40, Gulf Supreme Motor Oil 50, Crankcase Cleaning Oil" and "Traffic Motor Oil." Of these, six retain full or near full contents. Only one vial is completely empty. Scattered label wear from metal clips and nine labels have aging/staining from contents. Fine overall. Case has some aging/handling wear and is Fine/VF.
