Lot of three 9.5x12" sheets of animation paper w/rough pencil sketches for working ideas for the 1930 Silly Symphonies short "Night," which was an early version of "The Old Mill" and featured the musical nighttime frolics of owls, fireflies, frogs and other inhabitants of an old mill. First sheet features three images of spider w/dastardly mustache, spiderwebs and butterflies as well as a smiling moon. Note at bottom reads "Winds In On Web" w/spider cranking thread attached to lightbulb in spiderweb. Second sheet shows rough sequence featuring insects circling lit candle, well w/washline w/spare wings strung up and insect drumming w/his antennas. Third sheet shows glowing lantern, insects about to eat, exercising and dancing. Additional gremlin-like creature near center. This sheet features several lines of pencil notes. Sheets have varying degrees of aging/handling wear w/corner/margin creases. Fine overall w/VF-Exc. art.
