Item Description
9.5x9.5x2.25" deep illustrated cardboard box contains tin litho toy w/built-in key. 1950s. Nice box art w/each side panel featuring images of Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck and Pluto, back panel w/large Mickey portrait. Box shows scattered corner tip/edge wear w/some scattered creasing. Fine. Toy has 9.25" dia. base, height of the attached airplane is 5" and plane is on a metal rod that connects to "Disneyville" building at center. Has a small removable hard plastic Mickey Mouse pilot figure and plastic disc propeller. Scene on top of the base depicts Mickey and Minnie going on a picnic, Donald and Pluto looking up at plane, Goofy sleeping, two of Donald's Nephews fishing while another lights firecracker. Two tunnels, one featuring Donald image and the other Mickey. Bridge and the streamlined train attached to base. Outer base rim edge reads "The Mickey Mouse Express" w/additional character/train illustrations. Toy works and train and airplane rapidly travel in a circle. Mickey tunnel has flag switch which when in the down position, causes the train to stop when it enters the tunnel. Toy has some tiny scattered paint nicks and scratches but retains a bright and glossy appearance. VF. Nicely designed toy. Scarce w/box. From the John Bowers Collection.
