Item Description
26.25" long plastic and metal prototype cap rifle was hand-carved from plastic, assembled and painted to look like Kentucky flintlock rifle. 1950s. Complete w/painted wood rod that can be removed for use as simulated ramrod. Stock has painted "Betsy" name on ornate gold design and "Davy Crockett" painted name of right side of forestock. Rifle is in two pieces as produced for prototype purposes, split just in front of the metal hammer w/adjustable holder for cap and sandpaper on striker plate. Scattered wear w/aging to metal components and some small chips to edges of plastic. Fine overall. This rifle never saw production. From the John Bowers Collection.
