Item Description
This piece is listed in the book “Bryan Money” by Schornstein as #6. 2” diameter with obverse reading “A Government Dollar Contains/412 1/2 Grains/Coin Silver 900/1000 Fine/This Piece Contains 823 Grains Coin Silver In Value The Equivalent Of One Gold Dollar/Sept. 16th, 1896. Gorham Mfg. Co. Silversmiths.” On the reverse is the depiction of a cartwheel positioned off center towards one edge and with text “Size Of Government Dollar Containing 412 ½ Grains Of Silver/900/1000 Fine.” Extreme outer edge has five or six extremely tiny bumps on each side but nothing very major and the rest of the piece is extremely clean with just the normal tarnish to be expected on the silver. Scarce.
