Item Description
4.75" tall painted composition figure w/joints at shoulders/hips. Maker unknown but c. early 1900s. Figure has wear to tuft of hair on top of Grandpa's head and nose, revealing smooth shiny undercoating. Scattered wear/aging. Fine overall. Rare. 2.75x4.25x1.5" deep unpainted bisque (as produced) w/wire hanger holding separate bisque punching bag that moves. Bisque depicts Foxy Grandpa w/boxing gloves attempting to punch bag but instead striking one of his grandsons. Both Chub and Bunt are depicted here along w/the ever-present bunny moniker of "Foxy Grandpa" creator Charles Edward Schultze, aka "Bunny." .25x2" paper label reading "Foxy Grandpa" attached to base front shows wear at edges, about 85% remaining. Underside has incised "Copyrighted By S. & A.B." Likely German, c. early 1900s. Scattered dust soiling but remains VF/Exc. Rare and the first we've seen in our 48 years.
