Item Description
All are 2.25". First and second item reference "The Moody Park 3". In 1973 Joe Torres, a Chicano 23 year old Vietnam Vet, was arrested in a bar for disorderly conduct. He was beaten then taken to the city jail which refused to process him due to his injuries. Despite orders to take him to a hospital, officers took him to Buffalo Bayou and pushed him into the water. His body was found two days later. The officers were convicted of negligent homicide and their light sentences sparked riots one year later on the anniversary of his death in 1978. The Moody Park 3 were arrested protesters at the event. Final item pictures two black revolutionaries one with gun and the other with fist in the air and reads "Yusef Alhakk Is Innocent!". Joseph Daniels was a Buffalo NY political activist and poet who took the name Yusef Alhakk. He was convicted of armed robbery and served four years at Attica. He became a Buffalo high school teacher until 2005 and then fled rather than face child pornography charges. He was arrested in 2010 attempting to re-enter the United States. This button relates to his 1980's robbery conviction. All three buttons are NM displaying Mint. Comes with Hake's COA from the Marshall Levin Collection.
