Item Description
Each of the heavy metal badges is 2-2.25” tall. Each has embossed text and serial number and each is titled “Public Hack Driver.” The four here are dated 1926, 1928, 1931 and 1932. This 1932 badge includes celluloid encased license with driver’s photo. This celluloid sheet is 4.25x5-13/16”. The other license in this form is from 1930 and includes the name of “Grover A. Whalen/Police Commissioner.” The 1931 badge is missing a little gold color from the front left. This one has pair of screw posts and nuts on the reverse. The 1926 and 1928 metal badges are in a pin format and the other from 1932 having a pair of raised slots with openings but no pin as it was fastened in some other manner. In addition there are a pair of 3x4-1/8” booklets titled “Public Hack Driver’s License.” One is from 1926 and interior includes photo and name of the driver. The other is from 1928 in the same format. These have light but only minor wear. An exceptional group. See next related lot.
