Item Description
Each 1.25”. First in superb color pictures two explorers atop globe jointly planting U.S. flag. Button was inspired by the 1909 North Pole discovery controversy between Commodore Richard Peary and Dr. Frederick Cook. No text and no back paper but with name of maker Bastian on the curl. Scarce and NM displaying Mint. Second is circa 1928 and pictures “America’s Explorer Son Admiral Byrd.” Oxidation on metal back a bit heavier than normal but only the slightest bit of a little tan tone on front right edge. Striking design featuring large real photo of him against illustration of icebergs and one of his ships.
