Item Description
Each is a 3.5” button used as photo example in Collectible Pin-Back Buttons. First button was issued for June 1983 flight to deploy communication satellites. First button pictures “Sally K. Ride America’s First Lady In Space.” Second button shows her with additional crew members. Next is for August 1983 flight which was the first night launch and landing of the shuttle. First button pictures “Guion S. Bluford America’s 1st Black In Space” while second button shows him with crew members. Three years after these buttons were made the Challenger on mission STS51-L exploded in space 73 seconds after launch. Buttons are photo examples from Transportation section #659, #660, #661, #662.
