Item Description
The first eight pieces in this group are from the very early days of movie serials circa 1915-1920. Each of these is a 13/16” to 7/8” celluloid button while the figural brass key is 2-1/8”. Last item in the group is from the 1920s. Group begins with button naming “Pathe” title “Neal Of The Navy.” This is one of the few buttons made with the ‘Crystoglas’ process used by maker W&H and featuring metallic foil underneath openings in the covering celluloid to create a metallic effect. Next is for the title “The Yellow Menace.” Faint age dot or two on the rim. Next is for “Universal” title “The Adventures Of Peg O’The Ring.” The key is also for a “Universal” title with text on the shaft “The Master Key By John Flemming Wilson/A Thrilling Story Of Mystery And Romance.” Light tarnish. Next pictures famous star “Clara Kimball Young/World Film Corporation.” Next from “Pathe” is for “Molly King In The Double Cross.” Faint edge dot. Next are a pair from “Graft” also released by “Universal” and with the first picturing actress Jane Novak. Last is circa late 1920s and promotes a “Universal” title “Jungle Mystery” with this being button “No 3 Set Of 10” given to club members. Many early pieces from the earliest years of serials. All are NM display Mint with minor exceptions as noted.
