The brilliantly colored obverse has the wording "Trans-Mississippi And International Exposition 1898" surrounding the words "Omaha USA." Below the word Omaha is a Greek goddess who holds a wreath in one hand and has the wand or caduceus of Mercury in her other arm. The wand of Mercury being the symbol for modern day medicine.
