Item Description
22.75x30" artboard w/image from cover of the Oct., 1948 issue of "Four Color" #199 published by Dell Publishing. Cover featured Donald Duck dressed as Sheriff, w/six-shooter in each hand, a large Sheriff's star badge on his deflecting bullets as his Nephews look on from behind rock. This production art was sent to printer to check color for poster produced by Another Rainbow in 1988. From a set of four posters (each featuring Carl Barks art), the series being limited to 500 which were then signed by Barks himself. This artboard features 19x26.5" image area, its base being painted in sections, w/masking materials removed as professionally airbrushed. Art also features a few paste-up pieces, mainly to Donald's hat, holster, gun grips and the faces of Nephews. An acetate overlay sheet w/the black line art is attached at top w/tape, a few additional acetate sections attached for lines to Donald's shirt and title at top. Margins features production notations and printing labels. A great deal of time and effort went into producing this unique item, which has some handling wear/aging to margins, but would look great framed.
