Item Description
8.5x11" single-sided handbill for May 30-31, 1969 concerts that took place at the Waikiki Shell in Honolulu, HI. Concert was part of Hendrix's 1969 US tour and was presented by local radio station K-POI FM Sunshine. Handbill features classic photo image of Hendrix flanked by bandmates Noel Redding and Mitch Mitchell. By April, 1969, the band was beginning to splinter. Hendrix's deteriorating relations w/Redding were coming to a head, and Hendrix felt his musical development was hampered by the trio format. Hendrix had also begun to experiment w/depressants and psychedelic drugs. He was prone to mood swings, which created conflicts within the band. Despite these issues, the original group held together long enough to fulfill their existing engagements, culminating in the Denver Pop Festival on June 29, 1969. Handbill has some handling wear w/creasing at lower right and tiny nick along upper right margin. Fine/VF. Rare, w/less than five known examples.
