14x36" insert poster for the original 1944 release of "The Scarlet Claw," a Universal Sherlock Holmes film starring Basil Rathbone as Holmes and Nigel Bruce as Dr. Watson, the eighth of 14 Sherlock films the pair made. Generally considered by critics and fans of the series to be the best of the 12 Holmes films made by Universal, the film also starred Gerald Hamer and Paul Cavanagh. Poster has four horizontal folds and has had .75x2" corner replaced at lower right. Scattered wear w/creases, small tears and some scattered surface paper lifts along margins. VG overall.
