Lot of three books, measuring between 9-5/8x10.5" and 9-3/8x13". "Popeye The Sailor Man" Grosset & Dunlap hardcover has 36 pages and original dust jacket. Illustrated in full color and bw. Story takes place in "Pettalulu" and involves Popeye cast as well as Olive's cousin Mazie and Mr. Works, Mrs. Flotscham and Poo Foo the monkey. Covers and DJ have matching art and illustrated endpapers. DJ has lt. aging and dust soiling, a few color rubs around edges and corner tips but remains unclipped. Fine. Endpapers have trace of tanning. Book o/w VF/Exc. Choice condition for this title and scarce w/DJ.Next is pair of softcover linen-like books. "Popeye" titles published by Whitman are numbered 892 and 944. Both are c. 1935-1937. #892 has front cover art of Popeye w/Jeep, Swee'Pea, Olive Oyl and Wimpy w/Popeye, Wimpy and Swee'Pea on back cover. Scattered cover color rubs w/a few moisture marks. #944 has front cover art of Popeye and Wimpy watching Swee'Pea fish w/back cover art of Swee'Pea blowing soap bubbles w/images of Popeye, Olive Oyl and Wimpy. This book #944 has same story as hardcover in this lot but abridged. Some lt. cover dust soiling but overall cover is Fine, inside is VF.
