Item Description
16-1/8x23.75" stiff artboard has attached 15x22.25" sheet of art paper featuring extremely well-done specialty art by legendary comic artist Sheldon "Shelly" Moldoff (1920-2012), who was Bob Kane's first assistant on "Batman" and became a premiere Golden Age artist drawing Hawkman, again drawing Batman in the Silver Age. As its title suggests, art features Superman's origin, told in six panels w/large Superman image at center. First panel shows Superman's home planet of Krypton. Second panel shows the ship carrying the infant Superman rocketing away from Krypton as it explodes. Third panel shows The Kents finding the ship and fourth panel shows Superman as a baby lifting heavy furniture. Fifth panel shows The Kents and a young Clark Kent. Bottom panel w/large "Superman" comic book title logo features the classic image from the cover of "Action Comics" #1, showing Superman lifting and smashing a car as one man runs and another looks on. Large, full body image of Superman which was featured on the cover to "Superman" #1. Moldoff has signed art at lower right and added circle w/Siegel and Shuster credit. Impressive art is Exc. as mounted and ready for display. The nicest Moldoff original we've ever seen. Franco Toscanini Collection.
