Item Description
Pair of complete and unused matchbooks, each 2" tall. "The Shadow Of Fu Manchu" has "WROK" (Rockford, IL) sponsor imprint. 1939. Design includes dragons around text and Fu Manchu portrait. Figural matches shaped like Fu Manchu. Cover has lt. aging/wear. VF overall. Rare as complete. "The Shadow" has graphic cover including silhouette image of The Shadow posed w/wind blowing his cape and smoking skull at his feet. Back of pack features skeleton holding dagger dripping blood. Text reads "The Shadow - Radio's Thrilling Mystery Drama Brought To You By Frey Bros." Specially designed matches w/text reading "Listen To The Shadow Every Sunday - Mutual Network." Die-cut cardboard piece depicting "The Shadow" inside cover flap w/"The Shadow Knows" text. When this is pulled forward, two men behind jail bars are revealed w/"Crime Does Not Pay" text. Lion Match Co. Inc. c. late 1930s. Scattered edge wear. Fine/VF.
