9.25x14x1.25" deep cardboard box w/illustrated lid contains Whitman set #2086, ©1936 Walt Disney Enterprises. Similar in design to Whitman set #2175, both feature same lid image but #2086 has different bkg. and was not issued w/book as was the case w/#2175. Instead, this complete set contains eight 8x13.75" double-sided sheets, front having the same image printed twice; in color at top as color guide and bw below for coloring. Backs of these sheets feature various additional scenes to color and sheets include Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Horace Horsecollar, Clarabelle Cow and others. Two sheets have two different color images on fronts w/bw images repeated on backs. One sheet has 5" tape repair to corner and another has 7/8" puncture/impression mark, but o/w sheets are unused w/lt. even aging. VG-VF overall. Set also includes 9x11" cardboard artist's palette featuring repeat image of Donald from box lid. This has tin litho water dish and five small wooden dishes w/paint tabs attached. Unused w/cracking to one paint tab. Palette has 1.25" crease at Donald's neck and 1" crease at right heel. Even moderate aging. Fine. Box tray features built-in cardboard holder w/two paintbrushes and six crayons which are aged and show lt. trace of wear and slight melting/staining. Box tray has paper tape reinforcement added at end opposite supplies holder. Lid has clear tape repairs at corners and to two 1.25" side panel tears. Color rubs along edges w/dust soiling and 2" streak of crayoning to main lid panel. VG/Fine. Very rare set.
