Item Description
Large 9.75x13" 160-page book published by Simon & Schuster, ©1940 Walt Disney Productions. First edition. Filled w/great art throughout, some in bw, most in full color including many tipped-in plates. Most images are taken from storyboard art or actual film scenes. Book has been signed on two pages by Claude Coats, an artist, animator and set designer known for his work w/Walt Disney Animation Studios and Walt Disney Imagineering. His pioneering work w/Disney helped define the character of animated films, and later, immersive installations w/his Disneyland designs. Coats was inducted as a Disney Legend in 1991. Coats signed under color storyboard image from "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" section and again under a bkg. scene from "The Pastoral Symphony," both segments he worked on for the 1940 animated musical feature "Fantasia." In addition to Coats, book has also been boldly signed on a Pastoral Symphony page by Ken Anderson, who is also a Disney Legend. Book has some scattered handling wear as well as lt. aging and some scattered dust soiling to pages. Front cover has very faint 1" spot of moisture staining, but this blends for the most part. VF/Exc. overall. Book was signed in person and comes with Hake's COA. A very informative book on one of the classic Disney films.
