Item Description
3" tall painted cast metal Dean's Rag-style Mickey Mouse figure stands atop 3" dia. cast metal base designed like a wheel of cheese w/coin slot on top. Total height is 5" tall. Exceptionally creative design, front of base has "slice" of cheese that has been taken out as well as small area that has been "nibbled" by Mickey. Underside has trap and comes w/original key. These style Mickey figures were used in a variety of different ways including on an ink well, matchbox holder, safety pin holder, etc. All had a wire spring tail, as this does, but the others we have seen came to a point, whereas this example does not and may be a replacement. Trace of aging and some minor scattered paint nicks. Fine. A very desirable item in both the bank and Disneyana collecting communities. Among the rarest Mickey Mouse banks, of which only a few examples are known. Doug & Pat Wengel Collection.
