Item Description
12.75x14.25x3.5" deep cardboard box w/illustrated lid and sides showing children at play at the beach, the images are enhanced due to them holding or using Mickey sand pails or shovels, 14 shown in all. Box contains complete and unused set by Ohio Art Co., 1930s. Box is complete w/die-cut insert that holds the 10-piece tin litho set. Box shows some handling wear w/creases and lid has two spots of surface paper lifts as price tags were removed. Lid also has one corner split w/loose tape repair. VG/Fine. Small size sand pail is 3-3/8" tall (5" to top of raised handle) and depicts angry "Donald Duck" pacing as his Nephews play music loudly. Pail has 1938 Disney copyright. Trace of even lt. aging but unused and Exc. Comes w/9.75" long tin litho "Mickey Mouse" shovel that has image of Mickey and Minnie Mouse at beach w/sand pails. Handle has some wear as held in place by original metal bands, but shovel head still displays Exc. 6" tall by 7.5" long tin litho "Donald Duck" sprinkling can features two great scenes of Donald jumping off of crate and onto burro who flees in second scene, causing Donald to fall. This also has 1938 Disney copyright. NM. 1.5" tall by 6.5" dia. sand sieve w/handle. Band is decorated w/images of Mickey and Minnie at the beach, w/Mickey reading "How To Swim" book. Wire sieve has two generic sand molds and 5.5" long generic tin litho scoop shovel. Exc. The other generic (as issued) pieces are three different sand molds. Set remains unused and Exc./NM, old store stock. Rare set as boxed and in this high grade condition. Doug & Pat Wengel Collection, this is the actual example shown in their book "Comic Character Metal Sand Toys."
