Item Description
8.5x11". Additional text on cover reads "Vote Nov 8" and "The Story Of The Development Of An Independent Political Movement On The County Level". This booklet was produced by Jack Minnis and distributed by SDS members in 1967. Minnis had discovered a loophole in Alabama law that allowed for African Americans to form their own party outside of the standard two party system. It was Minnis along with Stokely Carmichael that would help organize what would become known as the Black Panther Party in Lowndes County, Alabama in 1965. The 14 mimeographed pages feature stick figure drawings telling the story of that organization's founding and acts as a guide for others to use to achieve similar results. Minor traces of foxing to cover and light overall toning most notable at extreme edges. Ball point pen notation at top right reading "Pyne". Interior pages are clean with only very minor toning at the most extreme edges of pages. Two central pages have minor oxidation where two staples hold the booklet together. VG/Fine. Rare. Milo Pyne Collection.
