Auction #215 - Part II
Item numbers 988 through 2613 in auction 215
Item Description
8.5" long (to tip of propeller) painted tin airplane w/7" wide tin litho wingspan and built-in key. The Ferdinand Strauss Corp., 1920s. Wings feature two-dimensional die-cut tin litho pilot figure. "Mailplane" text across wings w/the number "43" at each wingtip. Slight bend to right wing, one propeller tip and tail fin. Wings have darkened slightly w/age. Scattered paint wear. Wings have tiny 1/16" split in front and behind pilot figure, but these do not detract greatly. Wind-up mechanism works and propeller turns as plane advances. Fine overall.
