Auction #215 - Part II
Item numbers 988 through 2613 in auction 215
Item Description
9" long painted cast-iron airplane w/10" wingspan. Hubley, c. 1929. Obviously inspired by Charles Lindbergh's historic transatlantic flight in 1927, plane is styled to look like The Spirit of St. Louis and wings have raised/painted "Lindy" name. Right wing has partial decal of the period added by original owner showing an aviator standing by plane of the era. This decal shows heavy wear, w/only about 50% remaining and text is mostly illegible, decal could be removed if desired. Original nickel-plated wheels, cowl and propeller. Plane is marked "1718" on inside of body castings. Scattered wear to "Lindy" name w/scattered paint wear and dust soiling to edges of wings, body and tail fins. Fine overall.
